Introductions

My name is Danielle Berg and I am the oldest of 4 children.  I grew up in Rochester, MN and moved to Bellevue, NE this summer to teach 3rd grade at Peter Sarpy Elementary.  This is my second year teaching.  I spent last year teaching 4th grade at Wilson Elementary in Owatonna, MN.  I love teaching kids and couldn't picture myself doing anything else!  I received my B.A. in Elementary Education from Luther College in Decorah, IA.

I come from a generation that grew up on computers and feel pretty comfortable with new technology.  I am definitely more compatible with Windows, but also feel comfortable using a Mac.  I have had the opportunity to teach using a SMARTboard and an ACTIVEboard.  Both are interactive white boards.  I am quickly learning how to use my RoverCart. My students love our document camera and have quickly learned how to take pictures of our anoles with it...  We have also made a routine of using the RoverCart to listen to and watch a short TumbleBook when we come in from afternoon recess to calm ourselves down.  I am eager to learn more about our school's clickers and to implement them into our classroom.  I am loving the technology opportunities that are provided by the Bellevue Public School District!  I recently took Twitter 101 and learned so much!  It was a great opportunity to learn more without having to schedule times to meet as a class.  I am excited to see where this blogging class will take me and how much I will learn from it.

I hope to use this blog as an additional communication tool for parents.  I created a website through weebly.com and have been getting a great response so far.  I would like to take it a step further and have an interactive site that I can update more often.  I hope to keep my website more stable, rather than needing to change it continually (with exception to the links).  I believe that a blog will help me to create the immediate online communication I am looking for.

  2. I also tried out Weebly, but I was having trouble with it because I was trying to post large documents. I am so used to Ishare that I gave up. I'm hoping the blog can do the same job, or better.

  3. I really like your blog. It is so colorful! I've been searching for a background that is more colorful for my elementary kiddos. Where did you find yours? I too am hoping that I can use my blog as a positive communication tool between school and home. I want it to be a quick way for students to show their parents what we are doing in the classroom.
